What is KYC?

KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It means verifying the identity of the client with the mutual fund
companies.

According to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA), Asset Management Companies
(AMCs) are required to formulate rules and implement a customer identification programme.

Is KYC mandatory for investing in mutual funds?

Yes, to invest in mutual funds, complying with KYC norms is mandatory.

How can I get my KYC done?

There are 2 ways:

  1. Physical KYC
    • You can download the form from http://portal.amfiindia.com/spages/CKYC-KRA-KYC-FormforIndividuals.pdf. The form is also available with all the Asset Management Companies (AMCs) or the Registered Transfer Agents (RTAs)  like CAMS, Karvy, or Sundaram BNP Paribas Fund Services and Franklin Templeton, you are dealing with.
    • Fill up the form, and provide the self-attested copies of the following documents:
      1. Identity proof
      2. Address Proof
      3. PAN Card
      4. Photograph
      5. Aadhaar Card
    • You also need to carry originals for In-person verification.
    • You can submit the form at the AMC with which you are making an investment or the RTA. On submission of the form, you will receive the KYC acknowledgement and your KYC will be done in 1-2 working days.
  2. Online KYC: Online KYC can be further done in two ways:
    • Aadhaar Based KYC
    • Non-Aadhaar Based KYC

Aadhaar Based KYC

  • Fill all the basic information of the client (PAN Number, Client Name, Email ID and Mobile Number)
  • Upload Client’s e-Aadhaar and enter password
  • Initiate In-Person Verification (IPV) of Client
  • Submit the form online
  • KYC will come under process same time and will get registered within 2 days upon verification of documents

Non-Aadhaar Based KYC

  • Fill all the basic information of the client (PAN Number, Client Name, Email ID and Mobile Number)
  • Upload ID Proof and Address Proof
  • Initiate In-Person Verification (IPV) of Client
  • Download the pre-filled form
  • If Print Facility is available:
    • Take printout of the form
    • Take client’s Signature and Sign/ARN Stamp of the partner
    • Scan and Upload the form online
  • If Print Facility is not available:
    • Take client’s Signature and Sign/ARN Stamp of the partner on KYC Declaration Form
    • Upload the form online and submit it to CAMs Office within 7 days

How can I get Login ID and Password for Online KYC?

  • Request for your Login ID & Password
    • Send email to ekycservices@camsonline.com from your registered Email ID with AMFI
    • Mention your ARN, EUIN, Mobile No. and Email ID
    • Make sure that Mobile No. and Email ID is same as the one you had mentioned at the time of applying for EUIN
    • After sending the email, you will receive Login details within two days.
  • Login
    • Login on the CAMS website:https://eiscweb.camsonline.com/PLKYC
    • You will receive an OTP on mobile number or Email ID, whichever you have chosen
    • Select AMC and choose Aadhaar Based or Non-Aadhaar Based KY

How can I check my KYC status?

Visit www.cvlkra.com, click on the KYC enquiry tab and enter your PAN Number—your KYC status will be displayed and if you do not see any information, it means that you are not KYC compliant yet.

Visit www.camskra.com enter your Aadhaar number— your KYC status will be displayed.

Do I need to pay for KYC?

No, the KYC process is free for the investors.

Do I need to get KYC done every time I invest?

No, KYC is a one-time exercise.
